Executive Director, Erin Matthews Thomas
Erin Matthews Thomas is the Executive Director at Potomac Health Foundation, a private, independent foundation dedicated to investing in programs that promote the health of the medically underserved.
Previously, Ms. Matthews Thomas served as the Senior Program Officer at the Foundation. She managed the grants portfolio and functioned as a thought partner and resource for grantees and other community stakeholders. Prior to joining Potomac Health Foundation, Ms. Matthews Thomas was with the DC Department of Health as a Public Health Analyst and Cessation Specialist. In her role, she led the “DC Calls It Quits” cessation campaigns and oversaw the DC Tobacco Quitline. She also served as Project Officer to grantees providing cessation services in DC. She formerly had roles with Fairfax County Health Department, Marymount University, and Washington Regional Transplant Community.
Ms. Matthews Thomas has a BS from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, a MS from the University of South Carolina, and a Health Services Administration Specialist degree from The George Washington University. Senior Program Officer, Imani Amponsah
Mrs. Amponsah is the Senior Program Officer at the Foundation and is responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s grant programs.
Prior to this role, she was with the Infectious Diseases Society of America and led efforts to enhance the development of clinical practice guidelines. She has gained experience at a variety of nonprofit organizations, including Alternative Paths Training School, NDUTIME Youth and Family Services, Center for Cultural Experiences in Prevention, and the East End Pregnancy Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, with specializations in African American Studies and Global Education. Program Assistant, Joseph Merino
Mr. Merino is the Program Assistant at the Foundation and is responsible for providing general administrative and programmatic support for overall Foundation operations.
