Director of Grant Programs

 The Director of Grant Programs reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for implementing the Foundation’s grant making program.  The Director of Grant Programs manages and administers a portfolio of grants in the areas of access, prevention, and innovation in health.

 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Implement grant making strategy with the mission of improving the health of the community
  • Be administrator of and maintain grant management database
  • Design and issue RFP for grant proposals
  • Review grant proposals and evaluate based on building a portfolio that delivers on objectives of initiative/strategy/mission
  • Prepare funding recommendations and present recommendations to Grants Solicitation and Approval Committee of Board of Directors and to Board of Directors.
  • Manage ongoing relationships with grantee-partners
  • Provide technical assistance to applicants and grantees in development of grant proposals and submission of interim and annual reports, including through conducting workshops for grantees
  • Monitor grants through site visits and review of narrative and financial reports
  • Analyze monitoring information and data and document best practices and outcomes. Present findings to the Board and others as necessary
  • Participate in and support Executive Director in the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the Foundation in meeting its mission
  • Participate in and support Executive Director with Foundation strategic planning process
  • Keep up to date on public health trends and community health needs
  • Lead and/or assist with other projects as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in public health, policy, or social sciences preferred
  • A minimum of five years experience in nonprofit sector, preferably in public health
  • Experience in grant making/grant management
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation of programs, including development of logic models and results frameworks preferred
  • Excellent writing, verbal, analytical and organizational skills (Computer and data base skills)
  • Ability to prioritize, take initiative and work well under deadline
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team
  • Good sense of humor and ability to work in a small office environment
  • Driver’s license and own motor vehicle for use; willingness to travel locally within communities of Eastern Prince William County, Southern Fairfax County, and North Stafford
