Prince William Soccer was awarded a Howard L. Greenhouse large grant to expand their “Soccer for Success” program to two more sites. This program gets kids active three days a week and integrates a healthy lifestyle element to the curriculum. The program targets children in the community who attend Title 1 schools in the Potomac Health Foundation service area. Title 1 is a Federal program designed to assist schools with high levels of poverty.
Through the “Soccer for Success” program, students will gain access to imperative knowledge about health, fitness and nutrition. Families are also engaged as part of the program. Along with the physical activity, students receive health and nutrition lessons. The program is based on the national curriculum designed by the US Soccer Foundation to address children’s health issues and juvenile delinquency, while promoting healthy lifestyles.
