Research and Assessment

Potomac Health Foundation Assessments

The 2010 Community Health Assessment and 2012 Community Health Profile identified health needs in all zip codes. The 2010 study found three zip codes (22172, 22026 and 22191) at greater risk for: late prenatal care, births to unwed or teen mothers, higher death rates, uninsured hospital discharges and more. These zip codes also tended to have lower income, lower educational attainment levels and more racial/ethnic diversity than the other zip codes.

The 2012 Community Health Profile found three zip codes (22172, 22191 and 22193) to be at greater risk for hospitalization related to heart disease, diabetes and long-term complications related to diabetes.
