Potomac Health Foundation Welcomes New Executive Director
Steve Liga hired to lead the Potomac Health Foundation
Woodbridge, VA — 08/16/2022 — The Board of Directors of the Potomac Health Foundation is pleased to announce the completion of its executive search to replace previous Executive Director, Susie Lee, who led the organization for the past eight years. Steve Liga was hired August 1, to lead the nearly forty-year-old private health foundation. Mr. Liga comes to the Potomac Health Foundation after serving seven years as Chief Executive Officer for Action in Community Through Service (ACTS). He is dually licensed as a Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Substance Abuse Treatment Professional (LSATP) and has worked in the nonprofit public health arena for thirty years, twenty-five as a CEO or Executive Director.
“It is an honor to join the Potomac Health Foundation team,” stated Mr. Liga. “The Foundation understands that both personal and environmental factors impact an individual’s and a community’s health. To address these factors, we must use a multi-faceted approach in our grantmaking.”
Having worked in the fields of homelessness, food insecurity, domestic and sexual violence, addiction, and public health, Mr. Liga has a broad base of knowledge to draw upon when identifying funding priorities for the Foundation. His experience serving on various boards as diverse as the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, the Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William, and the Police Chief’s Community Advisory Board demonstrate his commitment to collaboration across multiple sectors of the community.
“One of Mr. Liga’s first tasks is to help develop the next strategic plan for the Foundation, which was delayed due to COVID,” stated Chair of the Board, Marion Wall. “The needs of this community have changed since our last strategic plan was adopted, so the Board of Directors is looking forward to working with Steve to develop new strategies to address these issues. Behavioral health, access to care, and health disparities are only a few of the priorities we plan to address.”
